Hurricane Sandy

Water supply
My adorable little neighbor
Can't live without rice

It was foolish of me for thinking Hurricane Sandy was nothing but a hype. It's scary to see all the damage it has caused New York and the homes it ruined. I am still going without power or water and it is expected to take around five days for it to come back. Unfortunately I live in one of the neighborhoods that was affected greatly by it. Luckily I do have some source of electricity which is in my hallway where I am currently stationed with my laptop. I never imagined something like this could happen. I hope every one is alright and is safe!

I have no school tomorrow and I hope they cancel classes on Thursday as well because I have a midterm that I have been so lazy to study for. I also have two writing assignments neither of which I have started. All I have been doing since Sunday night is eat all our stock food which is nearly finished. I walked outside briefly with my mother once the storm cleared out and all of the restaurants are closed. I saw some phone booths knocked over and trees laying on the ground. I wish I brought my camera with me. My phone is taking forever to send and receive messages and I have the cutest little neighbor who keeps stopping by my door to play with our dogs. I found it funny when I saw them plug their rice cooker into the outlets of our hallway.

These photos I saw online shocked me to see what condition we are in because last night I could barely hear the rain. Click here to view photos.

Photoshop

Due to boredom this evening I have been experimenting with photoshop using the overlay feature. Class is cancelled tomorrow because of Frankenstorm/Hurrican Sandy. I wonder how serious its really going to get because last summer New York was hit by another storm and it was hyped up to be very bad when it ended up not being that bad at all. Well hopefully everything will be okay. I am not that scared but PLEASE OH PLEASE I hope we don't lose internet or electricity. I am so reliant on internet and electricity its almost sad.

I wish I stocked up on some ice cream and junk food. I'm hungry.

I have been really mean lately because I am PMSing. Sorry if I snap at anyone. I don't mean it.

New Paltz

This weekend I went to visit my cousin in New Paltz. It is absolutely beautiful there. I had a lot of fun exploring and getting away from the busy streets of Manhattan. It's also really convenient to get there and only takes an hour and a half from where I live. Seeing the orange leaves and being around nature felt refreshing. The food was delicious and the people are very nice. She took me to an apple picking farm but since the weather wasn't great we couldn't pick apples so we just explored and roamed around.

A storm should be hitting New York very soon. Every one is worried and my mom stocked up on a lot of water. I keep on eating all the junk food we bought to last us until the storm clears out. I am currently watching a korean drama on Netflix called Operation Proposal. It is good so far and I am praying that once the storm comes my power doesn't go out.

The Weeknd

I saw The Weeknd last night at Terminal 5. It was amazing! I have crappy pics of the concert. I need a new phone. I wish I had my SLR with me, I would of gotten some really nice shots when he asked the crowd to put their lighters up. He sings great live. An hour before he came on they had a dj, I forgot his name except that he is Kanye's dj. He as well was good and played some great music. This is the first standing gig I ever went to and I want to go to so many more now. The XX is playing today in New York in the Bronx I think and I'm sad I'll be missing it because I am in love with them. The one thing I hate about going to a gig though is how HOT it gets and how claustrophobic it feels. I made a huge mistake in wearing a sweater last night. I literally felt like dying and if it wasn't for The Weeknd's amazing performance I probably would of. Also the ending when its time for every one to get out and go home really sucks as well because you smell a foul odor of weed, beer and sweat mixed together while you're there standing moving like a snail trying to get out but once you do exit and the fresh air hits your skin you know it was worth it.

Anywhere But Here

Today was my first day as a waitress. Its kind of difficult and I'm kind of slow. I am anticipating for the weekend to come already. Speaking of the weekend, tomorrow I am going to see The Weeknd in concert at Terminal 5 after class. I am so excited. I can't believe we are nearing the end of October already. November is the month of my birthday and I will be turning 22. Gosh I feel old. I am going to start a travel box. I will fill it with clippings of places I want to go to with information on ticket prices. I want to buy dark purple lipstick to match the weather. I also want a new coat. I kind of jumped from topic to topic in this post. Sorry, I am tired and have nothing really interesting to say. Goodnight.

Mean Reds

Holly: Listen … you know those days when you get the mean reds?

Fred (Paul): The mean reds? You mean like the blues?

Holly: No … the blues are because you’re getting fat or because it’s been raining too long. You’re just sad, that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?

I have the mean reds.

Murder on Chelsea

Annie was a housewife. Frank was a banker. They lived in a small walk up apartment on Chelsea. When Frank left for work every morning, Annie cooked and cleaned their tiny home. When 6 pm came, the door opened and Frank walked in. They looked into each others eyes with no feelings. She laid a plate of steak in front of him and they ate in silence. If an outsider were to watch the couple together they would think they were mindless human beings but that wasn't the case. Frank was in love with his secretary and Annie dreamed of a train ride whose destination was freedom. Annie was always a wild one before she met Frank. It was her mother who had set her up with him because she disapproved of Annie's unconventional ways.

One sunny afternoon Annie left the apartment and took a stroll down where ladies didn't belong. She walked into a gun shop and straight towards the counter where a grimey old man stood behind. "May I help you miss?" he asked puzzled because what on earth would a dainty looking woman be doing at a gun shop on a sunny afternoon. "I want to buy a gun." she said indifferently as if it was the most common thing to do. She pulled out a large chunk of money and placed it on the counter. "Anything will do." she said. The old grimey man didn't ask questions and took out one of the guns that laid inside the glass compartment. It was gray and heavy. He placed it inside a brown paper bag and handed it to her. Annie placed the paper bag that held her ticket to freedom into her purse and walked out the shop. She was going to kill frank.

To be continued....

Forever 21

My absolute favorite store to shop at when I am broke (even though i shouldn't even be shopping) is Forever 21 because they have amazing finds that people won't even believe you when you say you bought it there. Anyways I have been trying to cut down on my shopping habit but today I had to go into forever 21 to buy some gifts for my cousins in the Philippines and I couldn't help but pick up a few things for myself as well. I finally found the leather skirt I have been searching for and lucky me snagged the last two in my size! It was only $17.50 and since I loved it so much I bought it in two colors. I really wish they had it in black. I also bought a bra thing that is navy blue lace with some bead details. I figure the bra thing would look really cute with the many sheer shirts I love to buy. Oh and I found this adorable necklace that reminded me of the cleopatra era for 8 dollars. I want to buy a leather cap. I found a good one on eBay for fifteen dollars. I love anything leather. I also walked into strawberry today and surprisingly they have some cute shoes. Never judge a store by what it looks like, you never know what great finds you might find.

Wonder

Narrator: Amélie still seeks solitude. She amuses herself with silly questions about the world below, such as "How many people are having an orgasm right now?"
[scenes of various orgasms taking place]
Amélie: Fifteen.

One of my favorite films is Amélie and I remembered this scene when she is sitting on a roof as a child with binoculars. I liked this scene a lot because when I look outside my window and I stare out into the buildings I wonder the same thing, I wonder what people are doing and what emotions they might be feeling. I wonder how many people in the world are just like me.
