Apartment Tour

It's raining and gloomy outside which means I'm stuck inside. I thought I would welcome you inside my apartment! It's very cozy and most days I don't want to leave. I would rather lay on my couch and watch netflix, hulu, or hbogo all day. Most of my furniture is from urban outfitters, hand me downs, and the garbage. I luckily find a lot of cool things in the garbage like unwanted art, cabinets, and trinkets.

I really love interior design and decorating. One of my favorite blogs to look at is apartment therapy and their small space section. Although my studio is small, I don't mind it. It was really fun to decorate and see what creative ways I could come up with to make if feel bigger. My last apartment was even smaller and so I actually think the space I live in now is big. One of the benefits of living in a smaller apartment is it's easier to clean! I'm really neat and kind of OCD when it comes to cleaning. I can't sleep and I feel really cranky if I feel my apartment is dirty.

One thing I do wish for is a microwave. I haven't figured out where to put it though.

Sakura Matsuri

My favorite tree has always been cherry blossoms and so this weekend my boyfriend took me to the Sakura Matsuri festival. Every year the Botanic Garden in Brooklyn celebrates traditional and contemporary japanese culture with performances, food, and people dressing up.

When I turned 18 I got a cherry blossom tattoo because I love what it symbolizes:
"The significance of the cherry blossom tree in Japanese culture goes back hundreds of years. In their country, the cherry blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life. It's a reminder that life is almost overwhelmingly beautiful but that it is also tragically short. When the cherry blossom trees bloom for a short time each year in brilliant force, they serve as a visual reminder of how precious and how precarious life is. So, when Japanese people come together to view the cherry blossom trees and marvel at their beauty, they aren't just thinking about the flowers themselves, but also about the larger meaning and deep cultural tradition the cherry blossom tree."

Chef Faye

I decided to be romantic last night and cook my boyfriend dinner. I tried making kimchee quesadillas but Trader Joes didn't have any kimchee so I opted for ground turkey instead. It's super easy to make quesadillas and really quick too. I lathered the ground turkey with sriracha sauce...it tasted amazing! I'm going to try and cook more..and be healthy too.

One of my favorite stores to shop at is Zara. I have a love/hate relationship with them. Every time I buy something at that store, months later they bring down the price immensely. For example these shoes. I bought them for 60 thinking that was a sale already, since it started out at 100 and then a few months later I find the shoes online for 20. I have a common size foot though (6 1/2), and my size usually runs out quick (bleh).

Today I plan to cook some kimchi quesadillas. I hope it comes out as good as it looks in the pictures I saw on this food blog. This girl's food blog is really pretty. She takes nice pictures of every thing she cooks and ah it looks yummy. I wish my oven worked, I have to figure it out soon because a lot of the recipes I find online that I want to try requires an oven.

Spring and big shoes

   Photographer: Hortencia Caires

Back in December I had an obsession with Cheap Monday shoes especially their cube heel pumps. They were sold out every where and finally I found them in my size at asos.com. I ordered right away and when they came I was so excited until I opened up the box to find out that they sent the wrong size. I was so sad and sent them complaint emails because my size was sold out by then. Any way I kept the shoes because I loved them and found a way to make them fit. I stuffed a whole bunch of insoles, and surprisingly it worked. My mom stole my insoles though, so that's why the shoes look big in the pictures.

Went to The Penny Farthing to have a margarita. It was terrible...maybe because it was happy hour aka cheap hour.

Easter Weekend

I spent Easter with my boyfriend's family in Pennsylvania. It was fun as always. We had a BBQ, and his sister made stuffed burgers that had jalapenos, cheese, and onions in it. His sister's boyfriend made the best ribs I've ever tried. I must of gained a million pounds this weekend...I'm scared to check. We also watched the Oculus but we saw it so late that every one fell asleep. I was interested in it but the ending disappointed me.

#TBT

These pictures were taken last summer while it thunder stormed and heavy rain was falling in central park. Me and my friend were stuck under a bridge for 20 minutes and decided to take pictures. Looking at these, I miss my long hair. I don't know why I cut my hair. I always end up hating it and can't wait for it to grow back.

Geometrics

This weekend I'm going to Pennsylvania (excited). I hope the weather will be warm because we might go to the ziplines or horseback riding if it is. The last time I was on a zipline it was embarrassing and ghetto. I went on one at the mall without my glasses, therefore it was unenjoyable. On top of that, I screamed my lungs off like an idiot in front of every one shopping at the mall. Why would any one choose to have a zipline ride at a mall anyway. Better yet why would any one choose to ride a zipline at a mall (ahem, me).

I'm wearing a favorite dress of mine I found at Forever 21. Some people hate that store, I personally love it. I understand fast fashion is not good for the economy, but if it weren't for fast fashion I would probably be like those cartoons we see on television wearing the same shirt every day.

Anyway, I hope every one has a good Easter this sunday!
